Melissa Burden The Detroit News Comments General Motors Co. plans this week to promote sales and service executive Alan Batey to serve in a newly created position as global head of its Chevrolet brand. The move, which was confirmed Monday by a source familiar with the companys plan, was first reported by The Wall Street Journal. GM Chairman and CEO Dan Akerson has indicated that someone would be named to lead the Chevrolet brand globally. When asked about it in May, Akerson told reporters to stay tuned.
